Issue with Daylight Savings Time updates

(Aug-08 - Now Downgraded - no longer affects shipping product)

Update: 29-Aug-07

Microsoft have superseded the previous patch KB928388 and replaced it with KB933360. If you apply this patch, or it is automatically installed by Windows Update, then you should re-apply the registry fixes shown below. Alternatively, upgrading to 6.2.6, 7.0.1 or 7.2 will [ultimately] fix the problem.

###

With the advent of Microsoft releasing patches to support the DST initiative in the U.S these can cause issues with the Sage SalesLogix product line. You can apply a registry patch to workaround the issue or, alternatively, apply SP1 for Sage SalesLogix v7.0 or SP6 for Sage SalesLogix v6.2 to fully resolve the issue without the need for registry changes.

Currently Sage SalesLogix v5.x and 6.0/6.1 are not affected by this patch. Further information on how DST affects other Microsoft products, may be obtained here.

This workaround restores compatibility for Sage SalesLogix after installing the Microsoft Windows KB928388 (2007 Time Zone update), KB931836 (which supersedes and replaces update KB928388), or KB913670 (Australian) update. After installing the Microsoft update:

  • You may be unable to log on to any Sage SalesLogix application.
  • You may see the following error in Event Viewer: Faulting application "application name", "version number", faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.1.2600.2945, fault address 0x00012a5b.
  • You may see incorrect data.

The Microsoft updates change registry settings to allow the computer clock to adjust to the correct date in 2007 for revised Daylight Saving Time laws. There are 14 registry entries in the Microsoft updates that cause Sage SalesLogix to fail.

To apply the workaround, download the following files for the Sage SalesLogix LAN Client and the WEB client. After applying SP1 or SP6 you may wish to remove these changes - instructions can be obtained here.

New shipping media is now available for Sage SalesLogix 6.2, 7.0.1 and 7.2 - these already contain SP6 for 6.0 and SP1 for 7.0, as well as the TimeZone issue corrections. Please contact us for your copy.
